All things considered. i.e. the results. I've enjoyed the two games so far. I think team blue has show a lot of promise and it's super to see home grown player running around int the jersey.

I'd love to see a mark on the kit somewhere showing which force players started their rugby on the sunset side of the continent.

Maybe an embroidered gold swan on the shorts or some such?

but yes! i really enjoyed that match. The faces i had not seen before were really impressive! viking, lock, scrum half.

Then the usual's stood up too, spink, burey, etc. IT was great to see. There was some interesting calls from the ref, but i expect he is at the next level down, and this is good experience for him. Spinks yellow was odd, looked like he was in a perfect spot for the ball to land in his hands.

The maul defence was ok, but sometimes a little bit slow to engage. would love to see them hold off and come around for the tackle, but, they need to practice it i guess.

Really - the biggest take away is discipline. too many penalties and cards, not to mentioned getting walked for chirp!

Maybe, but these aren't "capped" Force games, so none of these "debuts" are actually counted as such.
Same as with pre-season trials, past close-season tours, and when "Western Force" played in the NPC rather than Perth Spirit.

Also, how do you define "starting their rugby"?

Is someone born in WA but went to school in Sydney more or less "WA" than someone born in Sydney but who went to school in Perth?
Or someone who was born overseas but played their club rugby in WA?

I'd not want to split hairs on it.
Maybe as simple as playing club rugby here before making it to The Force academy?
But I think it's important for Western Australians who are just discovering The Force to be shown it's not a team of imports.

..either way I did like seeing a bunch of new faces, with roots local to us having a good crack on the week end.

Spinks yellow was called play on until the TMO interjected.I disagree with the interpretation that he wasn't in a realistic position to Cath the ball.If the player in the air hadn't jumped, it would have hit Spink on the chest. Additionally, it looks like Spink moved away from the contest in the last second and much of the motion that turned the player in the air came from the arm of the cheetahs player who was pushing Spink off the line before the ball arrived. But it's a trial, worth nothing and I'd expect the force will get inexperienced hometown refs on their leg of the series so let's not sweat the shitty calls aye.

yep, that was my thought. It was a really good quality match, and i wonder what it would have been like in super rugby, where the defense is a bit more structured? it all seemed pretty fast and loose!

I remember you taking me to task for saying referees need to be 100% certain before ruling that offence. I still think defenders should be allowed maximum flexibility to contest possession, and particularly in try scoring situations. I really dislike situations where defenders must not contest risky passes under threat of a YC. IIRC this law was reviewed and Sir is supposed to be adjudicating that way. An antiquated and unnecessary law.

Let's be clear a TOUR involves

**A visit to a place or area, especially one during which you look around the place or area and learn about it:

It's not supposed to mean walking / taking a short train trip right past your usual home for the purposes of a piss-up. That is simply a.......

    pub crawl; noun;
    UK informal

**A visit to several pubs, one after the other, having a drink or drinks at each one:

    ** Cambridge Dictionary.
