    World Cup warm up games

    Scotland 25 - France 21

Huge win for Scotland. France came out of the blocks & blew them away in the 1st half.

France up 21-3 at half time. Scotland then came back to win it. Even more impressive when you consider Scotland were down to 14 men from the 51st minute.

Scotland have Ireland & the Boks in their WC group. Neither will be overly confident of qualification after this game

    England 9 - Wales 20

Although it was very much a second choice 15, bar maybe 3 or 4 players. England were meretricious. No grunt in the fwd's. Monumental amount of handling errors (22 turnovers)... the roof was closed too! The lacklustre performance has made the coaches job a lot easier when he selects the final WC squad.

Wales were awesome. A lot of players retired or were chopped in the last few months. Gatland's got a good blend of hungry young aggressive players & a few old heads to steer the ship.

On a side note Fiji hammered Japan today!

Meretricious. What a beautiful Word. Yes it seems it was an England B side but there should be no excuses.
About to watch the Scotland game. Told it was a cracker.

A beautiful word, but with little overall meaning.

Not the first time I’ve wheeled that beauty out!

Normally used when describing Waratahs teams of years gone by.

    England 19 - Wales 17

Poms were way past meretricious this week! Went down to 12 men at one stage and a better team would have put them to the sword.
Farrell's yellow was upgraded to a red after a bad tackle
They managed to claw it back somehow. Either team will be lucky to get out of the group stage.

    France 30 - Scotland 27

Scotland clawed the French back again after being 27-10 down.
    Both teams looked very impressive.
Great game to watch if you can get the repeat on Stan

Englands first World Cup game is the crunch game against Argentina and good chance Farrell will miss it now. If they lost that then it will put massive pressure on them to beat Japan and Samoa

Also Portugal beat USA 46-20, so that might not be as big a flogging as a lot might suspect

That must really piss the TMO off . Absolutely a red …. Direct contact to the head …. No attempt to bend …. No mitigation…. Previous history of poor technique….. Cop out ….(Actually mitigation … important to Englands World Cup effort!!)

Surprisingly it was an all Aussie judiciary panel

“An all-Australian judicial committee comprised Adam Casselden SC and two ex-Wallabies in John Langford and David Croft. The former back-rower was coached by Eddie Jones, both for Australia and the Queensland Reds. These committees are assembled by World Rugby’s judicial panel chair, Chris Quinlan, with the chair selected in advance of matches. Two other members are then added afterwards, with an onus on neutrality for a player’s upcoming fixtures”

David Croft would know a thing or two about getting hit in the head, maybe affected his objectivity...
