Exclusive: 'Seismic shift' as Waratahs to hand over keys to RA in boost to reform push - others to follow

    Christy Doran

In a seismic moment in Australian rugby, the New South Wales Rugby Union is on the cusp of handing over the keys to Rugby Australia in a major boost to the governing body’s plans of ushering through historic reform and moving to a centralised system.

After meetings throughout the week, The Roar can reveal NSW Waratahs chief executive Paul Doorn emailed stakeholders informing them that they were on the cusp of handing over ownership to RA. (Sounds like speculation to me, I doubt those type of emails ever happen)

By doing so, the Waratahs will cease control of their high-performance and commercial assets.

The Waratahs know they're safe to do this. RA will never kill off their masters from leafy harbourside suburbs.

It's a bluff intended to get the keys off the teams they really want to assassinate

Yeah, there must be *so many* people shitting themself that RA will wind up the Waratahs, or amalgamate them with another team. I'm sure the Brumbies, Force and Rebels must be soooo reassured by their example....

It's a way of bailing the Tahs out of the financial brown stuff just like they did with the millions they ploughed into the Rebels and Reds and look how that ended. Same story different ending because this time they will have to bail out the Rebels and Brumbies. If the Brumbies agree. I think they will have wised up after what RA did to us.
