    Waratahs Sign injury replacement

Rugby Australia posted a press release on Facebook saying that the Waratahs have signed Wallaby and contracted Super Rugby player Pone Fa'aumasili on a short term injury cover deal.

Meanwhile, the Force will continue to play with an NPC player, a hospital Cup prospect
    and a 21 year old.

Do they even recognise how unbalanced it is?

Maybe we tried to sign Pone but he didn't want to come west. It's not always a conspiracy against us!

Well maybe not, but there are plenty of other contracted Super Rugby props in Oz who are not getting game time, were still using multiple players signed out of New Zealand wider training suads and have never signed a single injury cover with a player on a full contract.Especially in the season following a massive buyout by the governing body.I'm allowed to be salty about it.

I would imagine this is easier for the Tahs and Rebles because RA is "running/ funding" both clubs.

    Exactly.

This way RA ends up paying itself for the player, rather than having to bring someone else in from outside their own player pool.
It may not be the last quasi-internal transfer between the two RA-owned clubs?

The positive at least he is playing as he needs to be, but yes, it does smell a little.

I suspect you are right. Imagine if Dr. Forrest bought the Rebels out - the Force could do the same.

100%, he's a big unit at 135kg and with the front row stock injury record he may very well pick up another few caps this season.

It is a bizarre situation isn't it, "not good enough" for Provincial but still in the mix for International.

I do wonder how the Rebels landed such a healthy number of forwards, Elof hasn’t had a game this season and he was huge for them in the last two.

I’m not 100% sure but to me these extensive injuries are down to a lack of a good 2nd tier comp . NZ don’t seem to have the same amount of top player injuries having a strong NPC comp …… we need that extra game time somehow…

Given that is where we are sourcing most of the replacements from, it would be pretty strong evidence!
