From RugbyWA's ticker tape (which I managed to stay in front of for 90%of the match )

Super performance by the Emirates Western Force tonight all things considered. The healthy (revised) crowd of 9501 saw some terrific expansive play by the home side in sweltering conditions, even with the standard number of trial match errors.
Tonight has certainly laid a solid platform for next Friday's Investec Super 14 opener against the Highlanders at Subiaco Oval, with Cross, Giteau and Mitchell looking settled in the new backline.

FULL TIME - Emirates Western Force 59 Manu Samoa 10

    Force:
    Tries- Sare 3, Cross 2, Pusey 1, Brown 1, Shepherd 1, Ioane 1.
    Conversions- Shepherd 7/9

    Manu Samoa:
    Try- Ulia 1.
    Conversion- Lui 1.
    Penalty- Sanft 1.

    Force gives Samoans thumping

    Force gives Samoans thumping

    c/o Fox Sports,
    January 25, 2007

WESTERN Force has completed preparations for its second Super 14 season with a 59-10 thrashing of Manu Samoa in Perth.

In stifling 30-plus degree conditions, Force completed its trial match campaign in emphatic style and now faces the Highlanders at home next Friday night to kick off the 2007 Super season proper.

The Force's 33-3 half-time lead already surpassed what the Reds could manage all game last week in beating the Samoans 31-3.

It took Force almost 10 minutes to open the scoring, but after its first try, four more followed for the half.

Haig Sare crossed for the first try and David Pusey for the second just five minutes later, after Manu Samoa captain Ulia Ulia was sent to the sin-bin for a trip.

Richard Brown crossed for the next try 25-minutes in, on the end of a perfect pass from Junior Pelesasa.

Just before the break Cameron Shepherd crossed, adding to his four of five conversions for the half.

The Samoans got on the board thanks to a long-range penalty by Doug Sanft for the last play of the half.

Australia players Matt Giteau and Nathan Sharpe played the first half as outlined by Wallabies coach John Connolly, getting through unscathed. The pair, particularly Giteau, showed pleasing signs, but still have work to do for next week.

It was a scoreless first 13-minutes to the second half, before Digby Ioane crossed after a well-run play from the scrum.

Two-minutes later Cross was over for his second try of the evening. Sare then crossed twice in a matter of minutes, giving himself three tries and taking the Force's lead to 59-3.

A great result. but next week will be tougher. However it's good to go into the league with a win under the belts, and the game plan obviously worked. Haig Sare obviously playing well, lets hope his form continues.

    Good commentary Burgs

you should be proud of your son. before he came to paly. we were the wipping boys of the comp. crowds about 70people. ussually just seconds staying around and the odd 25 members that would go and watch our club get slaughtered. but last season. with a new captain and a new team we were pulling crouds about 150-200. and with chuckys amazing kicking skill he single handedly won us games. he got us one game off the big one. im sure you would be aware of this but... thankyou for producing an amazing player
