    Crimson Koalas

Great post WF2006. I've been concerned as to the 'purpley reds', especially when they play against really red teams like Crusaders and Lions. Qld Reds aren't red, they're maroon or crimson. We can't have the Maroon's tag tho cos that's the NRL's Qld State of Origin team.

With the Reds logo as the koala , I feel its better if the team is called the Crimson Koalas, or if that's too woossy, then the Krimzon Koalas would do the same job. (Not that any koalas are red or crimson?! unless knocked on road!)

There's an increasing amount of real red on the Reds training/casual gear, along with the maroon/crimson, and the combination is puke. Its a colour clash that isn't needed by the 'Queensland Krimzon Koalas' or the Krimzons.

I'd prefer Krimzons or Crimsons to Purpley Reds ! (or Mauves) or Reds

I'll try this as a new thread (yes) and see if any responses. Thanks KRed & WF for the idea, from an exile in Qld.

What's with the poofy blue white anyway Sage, they too tight to by an Alternate jersey or what?
Supposedly meant to be closer to the "traditional" colour but I don't recall it ever being like that?

Mystic Balls, you getting 70's flashbacks dude???
Tad psychedelic for my taste but you never know, share some of that good stuff out and it might float

    Off Topic:
Well, the old Tahs jersey matches pretty well with my wallabies centenary jersey, so I figured the old one must be a pretty acurate representation of the colour of the original jerseys.

The new one is growing on me, slowly.

    On Topic:

The QLD Reds are definitely not red, it's always been a laughing point.

    QLD Crim's could certainly work.

It's a shame that Australia has such sports unfriendly names in the bush to match "Cowboys".
That would be an obvious route to use for a big rural state like Qld but "Ringers", "Jackeroo's" and "Stockmen" don't really cut it.
The only useful ones are already taken with the Bulls and Brumbies.
All our birds are taken or are soft and there's bugger all in the way of decent predators.
Get R.M. Williams as the major sponsors and you could go the "Longhorns" to match their logo.
If NSW wanted to get a heritage type name Sage, they could go for the "Walers", naming it after the purpose bred horses from Australia (originally NSW) that went to the early Wars and the Indian Remount.
A big strong horse often used for pulling Artillery around, but also for Cavalry.
Gotta be better than a flower

Burgs - if the 'Tahs took on a horsey name then the Brumbies would get p*ssed off. Maybe we could then rename the brumbies as the pollies (not the parrots.....politicians!!!).

Thanks guys. Burgs- the way Reds are going this year, the floaty stuff helps! ( Damn my cover's blown! )

Yeah after I did the thread, my next thought was to just to change the name to ANYTHING else . So taking up the logo theme- Qld Koalas , Qld Cassowarys - not really fierce enough - unless its mating season.

I like the NSW Walers and ACT Pollies though.

Any marketing types out there who can bend their mind around this issue with some ideas? What do Reds fans think? If Eddie fronts up in his gangster gear, then Qld Crims might just work !!! C'mon Eddie, find a pin-stripe suit !

Pin-stripe suits are certainly awesome. He could carry a violin case around as well.

I STILL can't believe Brisbane went with Broncos. They could have had "Brumbies" years ago. Sheesh!!

And their country cousins followed right along with the "good ole apple pie" theme

No accounting for taste And no offense intended to Larry from Joisey.

Hows about "The Purpley Red Toads" MB?

If the the reds are going to be called the crimson koalas from now on should we call the tahs the powder puff blues?

When the Purpley-Reds or Crimsons or Mauves hit town, I wonder if Eddie will be packing any cane toads in the violin case?

Yeah, the Americano theme is very 'un-Australian', but brumbies done good. Are there any WA teams called the 'Numbats' ?

Tahs are more of a fairy blue.

Not that I know of mate. But you've gotta like the Dunsborough Dungbeetles. They've got fans all over the world. Well in south west WA and New Jersey anyhow. I reckon Katanning Krushers has a good ring too. I know it's been done before but I think they meant sugar cane. Over here it's more likely to relate to ore.

Yeah Shasta, the Sth Qld Crushers were based at Lang Pk and based on sugar cane and train. Now Reds have QRail as sponsors at Suncorp-same ground. Milton Station next to it.

Dungbeetles has an earthy air to it! When Kearnsey commentates at Brumbies home games, he always mentions some great local teams names- which now I can't recall ! Anybody ?

Katanning Krushers could be wheat I guess.
