3: Force will be looking for more tall locks
4: Tahs will be looking for anyone that can play rugby

    Then stand corrected.

The region has peroduced more wallabies than our fine state (Campese, Gits, Gregan, Henjak etc etc) not to mention that Laurie Fisher both played for ANU then coached them to the premiership before picking up the job at the Brumbies.

Although he didn't get much of a showing wth the Force last year (due to injuries that woudln't go away) Zander Pedan was picked from club Rugbyland in the ACT.

The Vikings (yep, same as the ARC team) are SO strong that that they have played on both the Sydney Premiership competition (and were asked to leave) and the Brisbane Comp.

My money is on them to win it 1st year.

Oh, and hasn't Cottesloe's new coach just been drafted from the Owls as well?

    My two cents worth.

This debate seems to be very similar to that which ran on the east coast last year...

We may see some different outcomes in the local club competition than the traditionally powerful clubs have previously enjoyed...but from the gaps formed by promotion of club players, we will see new talent appear. Some of that talent we will no doubt be writing about on these pages in a little over 6 months, in the same way we are writing about David Pocock and Cameron Shepherd now (both in poor favour with their previous S14 franchises). Nature abhors a vacuum.

The whining I am reading here (IMO) has a very similar ring to that of Eddie's a fortnight ago when he stated that the fourth S14 team has been bad for Australian Rugby. He got shot down by many on this forum, and others more publicly, for the selfishness and inaccuracy of those comments.

For those clubs who have spent big to import players in a bid to win their championships then they will now focus their money elsewhere. I am sure they will now focus their attention on developing and strengthening their remaining rosters through further recruitment, coaching, fitness and gamesmanship. This attention may be enough for a fringe player who is at the crossroads of choosing to focus on Rugby or an alternative career may well choose Rugby over the alternative option.

For those that struggle against change, may I suggest reading "who moved my cheese" - personally I hated it but some of the organisations I have worked for in the past who have struggled to change have recommended it to staff to help them deal with the inevitable.

That which does not kill us makes us stronger. Since the ARC is going to provide more opportunities to more players at a professional level (and this means all the way to sub-districts players) this logically applies to every club player by allowing him to step up and play at the next level. And that experience has to be good for Club Rugby in Australia for the future - and despite the Naysayers predictions will not Kill us

I like the new name: "SPIRIT"....it is in keeping with the style of name behind the . Better "spirit" than "kangaroo paw" or some such silly plant name. Or how about "Perth Blues".....nah, SPIRIT it is!

Can i put a point up for the argumant, Fulvio...
Perhaps next year they will play the ARC after club finals, only this year we have RWC in september...Perhaps changes for the better can be made next year to both enhance the ARC and leave Club finals alone...Just a thought...
