Thumbs down Line markings at Subi

Did anyone notice the lines at subi of Friday night.

The ground was partly marked up for the GayFL and I couldnt help but notice how dull the lines on the Rugby pitch were compared to the one on the boundary.

Check it out on the TV replay......

We have already drawn a game at subi due to sub standard line marking....I hope it doesnt happen again..

You weren't alone TG. The boundary line was thicker as well as whiter.

Wonder if it was only this match?

The goal square stood out like the proverbials.

Be fair. The rugby markings were clear for all to see and more than sufficient. I speak as one who has marked rugby pitches regularly and often over many years.

So what if the outside perimeter markings and the goal square appeared brighter- for one those lines were probably closer to you in the wide desert that is Subiaco, and for two the AFL markings had no visibility to the players at ground level, being behind those hideously distracting rotating advertising hoardings.

To be honest, I begrudgingly thought those AFL blokes had done a good job of rugby line marking!

The point TG raised was that they had been found wanting once last year in a TMO decision. If they'd been marked as bright and thick as that boundary line on Friday perhaps The Force would be chasing back-to-back victories over the Crusaders.

I've marked my fair share of them too, Fulvio but I can't see how that's relevant.

It's relevant only in the sense that you know the difficulties involved, and can appreciate a reasonable line when you see one ,I suppose...and I've been abused for more than a few of my efforts, I can tell you...

Well they have to buy you a few to get you to volunteer for the job don't they? And how far can you water down a couple of litres of paint so as to make it cover three fields?

Now you are getting personal and I am deeplly offended, nay, mortified by this invictive and abuse being directed at the fraternity of line markers.

I am calling a branch meeting with a view to instigating strike action for the next home game...

Guilty of a breakfast stubby, or hangover line...I can see how you could bend a line...

The reason for poor marking of rugby lines at Subi is very simple. As soon as the game is over, the little umpa lumpas form WAFL/Subi land come out and start to erase them, as we are on their playing surface.

Fainter lines obviously means they can get them off quicker, so as not to confuse the AFLers.

The sight of a random white line on their playing surface would have them on their hands and knees with a rolled up fifty faster than you could say Crystal Meth......

Come the revolution, the backs will be the first to be lined up against the wall and shot for living parasitically off the work of others....
