    Last man standing

By George, Ollie's last man standing

George Gregan, Stephen Larkham and Ben Tune have helped South African Ollie Le Roux to a place in history.

Going into the final round of the Super 14 at the weekend, Gregan, Larkham, Tune and Le Roux were among the six veterans in the tournament who played in it when it began as the Super 12 in 1996.

But with the Super 14 days of Gregan and Larkham (Brumbies), Tune (Reds), Tana Umaga (Hurricanes) and Anton Oliver (Highlanders) now at an end, Le Roux is the last original left. There has been no official confirmation yet, but the popular 33-year-old Cheetahs and Springboks prop, who has a cult following in South Africa, will probably return for one more season next year.

Testament to a healthy lifestyle in the front row (of course!). Good on ya, Ollie! Nice to see the (knowledgeable) Subi crowd give him a rousing send-off the other week.

Only one more year means he won't be atr Subi again, just like when Tana left the field a few weeks ago...it was just bye from Subi, not bye forever!
