    TRI NATIONS TABLE

    Current Standings
    ....... Team P W D L PF PA Diff BP1 BP2 Pts
    .....Australia 2 1 0 1 39 37 ..2 ...0 ...1 ... 5
    New Zealand 2 1 0 1 41 41 . 0 .0 .....1 ...5
    South Africa 2 1 0 1 43 45 .-2 .0 .....1 ...5

At Half way Australia is winning and it is very close. This was supposed to be the tournament nz and south africa dominate. It would be a very good tournament if SA didnt put in a 2nd side.

Yeah would have liked to see a full strength South African side play for the duration; but then again do we ever see a full strength South African side? Hopefully politics stay out of the RWC, very wishful thinking...

Gee that bonus point for coming within 7 in South Africa is coming very useful at the moment! Let's hope it's still a help at the end of tournament.

In a perfect world we'll get a four try bonus win over SA this weekend and the backlash in the Republic would be such that they decide to send out their stars to play the AB's.
The AB's and Boks bash each other to a standstill in a low scoring affair to give us every chance of getting a second upset....
    Wishful thinking???

I admire your optimism. At half way it is a three-way tie, and only New Zealand has played all its away games. Considering South Africa's best team was beaten at home by the All Blacks and was almost beaten at home by Australia -- I don't know that anything will really change with having their B side do the away leg.

I am amazed by the reams of bollocks pouring out of the media after the Blesdisloe Cup win. Anyone with eyes could see that the Wallabies were competitive, they were unlucky to lose to New Zealand in at least one test last year and were bound to get a win at some stage. Better now than in the world cup, would be my thoughts.

And as for the various explanations as to how the Wallabies outplayed the All Blacks in the second half, causing them to "implode" and "choke" -- words fail me.

This was a very poor All Black performance by any measure, their handling errors were twice that of Australia's, they gifted the Wallabies with an endless supply of possession and were very lucky to be leading by half time. All that changed in the second half was that the All Blacks, on the end of tiring road trip, faded badly and the Wallabies scored a couple of tries.

The Wallabies certainly deserved the win and were much the better side on the night but the best thing Australia could do after this game is keep a sense of perspective.

But good to see the Western Force boys leading the way for Australia all the same.
