Nudgee Old Boy Will Chambers has achieved what many young men can only dream. He gets paid to do what he loves after landing a Rugby League contract with the Melbourne Storm.
The 2005 Nudgee Old Boy from Nhulunbuy in the Northern Territory was always passionate about his footy and was a member of the Nudgee 1st XV in his final year. He attended the College as a boarder for the last four years of his secondary schooling and says that Nudgee helped him prepare for this new phase.
“Boarding at Nudgee really taught me how to become independent and I really grew up a lot while living there,” he said.
“Moving to Melbourne to play with the Storm, I realised the life skills I learnt at Nudgee really helped me settle into a new city and lifestyle. Without the skills I learnt there, my move to Melbourne would have been far more difficult,” Will said.
“Any one thinking of enrolling would be making a really positive move with their lives,” he said.
“The school offers so much. The teachers are great, they really go out of their way to help you. And the camaraderie is like nothing I'd ever experienced before going to Nudgee. You form a real brotherhood with your fellow students and form some really valuable life-long friendships.”
Principal Mr Daryl Hanly also speaks of the rich diversity of activities at Nudgee as well the diversity of those who attend.
“It makes a Nudgee education a truly positive experience,” he said.
“Boarders bring a different perspective to those boys who have never lived outside a city, and the opportunity to travel to regional areas on music tours and with the cattle club enriches their life experience. Conversely, the opportunities presented to boys in regional and remote areas can literally change their lives.”
Complete this limrick:
A crooked old bookie from Nudgee
who thought he was smuggling a budgie
80 Minutes, 15 Positions, No Protection, Wanna Ruck?
Ruck Me, Maul Me, Make Me Scrum!
Education is Important, but Rugby is Importanter!
The crafty old bugger
Was not a good smuggler
the budgie made his skid marks all smudgey

A crooked old bookie from Nudgee
welched on his bets and grew pudgy
But the punters he screwed
got angry and sued
and now he is facing a Judgy.
Piss poor I know, but better than your efforts so far!
A crooked old bookie from Nudgee
Used his jocks as a home for his budgie
He suddenly sang,
“The bird’s got my wang!
I’ll be the laughing stock all the way to Mudgee!”
"Bloody oath we did!"
Nathan Sharpe, Legend.
Youve got it now Burgs!
A crooked old bookie from Nudgee,
Had a taste for things a tad “fudgy”.
When he saw a dog shit,
Like a halfwit,
He grabbed it and made his beard all smudgy!
Perhaps I should have left it at one...![]()

So what he thought was a bird
Turned out to be a turd
And now you can find him in Mudgee!
