RugbyWA has awarded Honorary Membership to Richard Vaughan, former Emirates Divisional Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations Worldwide, for his long-time support of the Emirates Western Force, and his commitment and service to the club and rugby community.
Vaughan becomes just the fifth person in the club’s history to receive the prestigious honour which recognises extraordinary service to the organisation.
RugbyWA Chairman Russel Perry presented the award to Vaughan at a Board Members dinner this week at the Western Australian Rugby Centre.
“Richard was an integral part of acquiring Emirates as the naming rights sponsorship and he has continued to support that partnership in the eight years they’ve been on board with the club,” Perry said.
“He has also provided extraordinary help and service to the rugby community in general through his association with the Nedlands rugby club.
“Given Richard has now retired from Emirates, we felt it was an appropriate recognition and honour.”
Vaughan said he was extremely humbled to receive RugbyWA Honorary Membership.
“As I said to Russel, I’m not very often lost for words but I was stunned and I certainly didn’t expect it,” he said.
“I’m sure there are many other worthy people in the rugby community that probably would be more deserving than me but I’m very honoured to accept the award and I look forward to continuing to be part of the RugbyWA community.”
The award has previously been presented to Robin Arndt, who designed and helped construct the RugbyWA Headquarters at Rugby Park; Home Building Society Chairman Bernard Wright and Managing Director Jim Freemantle for their long-term sponsorship of community rugby; and John Green, in recognition of his dedication and commitment to the game and ARKS Rugby Club.
But but but....has he got a tattooThat's a lifetime committment..

well deserved award,Richard
Having the privelege of knowing young Richard, this award is well deserved. He has a most amazing dedication to the wellbeing of young people in sport, he worries about their welfare and is extremely generous in giving of his time and counsel. RugbyWA are super lucky to have a couple ( including Lisa) as part of our community
