So... it appears that while being active I have torn my MCL (joy) and it is being a pain in the ... well knee ...
I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas of how to help it get better ... I've been resting it and icing it when ever I can ... I'll be back at the physio tomorrow, but I thought that perhaps someone might have some ideas ...
I have some anti infammatories ... but they don't seem to agree with me ... and the voltaren gel seems to do a better job anyways.
I could strap it up, but I'm alergic to the tapeit makes me cry when it itches
okay maybe not ...
now I'm just prorastinating ... I mean seriously ... who in their right mind could be bothered working on a day like this ... actually I wouldn't know what kind of day it is ... I have no window ....
anyways, ideas would be appeciated![]()

a brace? a cotton one so it doesnt irritate.
or just do whatever the phyio says to do
I will be have a back operation next Friday!
(for the technically minded, a "laminotomy +/- microdiscectomy").
Fortunately it will be at St John of God just a stroll down from JBs. Unfortunately I don't think the medical staff still hand out Guinness for patients![]()

"12 Years aSupporter" starring the #SeaOfBlue
I had a microdiscectomy about 12 months ago.
Arrived 10 am Friday left 11 am Saturday.
Hardly enough time for guinness.
Oops wasn't meant to offend, sorry Lonzy if it did.
My wife's just had a full reconstruction of her knee from netball. Plays State A grade and then plays on a tuesday social game to help out a friend and snaps both ligaments in her knee.
Wasn't pretty.
All the best with it Lonzy. I've had two knee ops and a shoulder recon. Don't keep training on it if deep down you know that pain your feeling is something not right. Then if your like me once you realise you were too stubborn to admit you should have rested it until it's too late and you've done more damage.
Ah, poor Lonz! Anti-inflams, and go to a SPORTS physio. And take a picture so you remember how big your knee gotDoes that tubing bandage stuff make your knee itch as well?
Oo... I did a medial ligament once. The first lot of physios did SFA to it - just ultrasound and a few light exercises. A year later, I still had heaps of knee pain. Went to another more "hands on" physio and he said the pain was from all the scarring that had developed. 3 months of excruciatingly painful stretching, and the pain was finally gone. The knee is still dodgy, but knees seem to me to be inherently dodgyNow I have ultra-bendy knees.
I only go to sports physios now. The use-it-or-lose-it approach works better than the cotton-wool approach.
