Pocock blown away by call up

Pocock blown away by call up

    October 29, 2008

DAVID Pocock is blown away after being told he would make his Australia debut against New Zealand on Saturday night.

The Zimbabwean-born 20-year-old could hardly believe it when he was named last month in the 34-man squad for the spring tour of Hong Kong and Europe, let alone receiving the call-up for the first-ever Bledisloe Cup Test on neutral land.

"You do pinch yourself every now and then when you're sitting next to one of the big dogs like Lote Tuqiri or one of those blokes and think 'whoa, I'm actually here'," Pocock said ahead of Thursday's official team announcement.

"I mean, it's a massive honour and something I really enjoy doing and hopefully can keep doing for a long time."

Yet in all the years of John Smit’s captaincy, there has never been one unhappy customer, not one voice of rebellion against his leadership. He is the glue that holds the Springboks together. Seems to imply he'll be on the bench so I'd assume Smith will start at 7.
Is this the implending end to Waugh??

What great news, reward for a great season, well done Dave. A great player and a great person.

Hats off to John Mitchell, taking two raw talents like Pockock and Bown and making them into Wallabies in three short years.

Onwards and upwards for the Force!!!!

So that would make it a representation of at least 6 force boys in the Aus vs All Black squad.

Sharpe, Brown, Pocock, Mitchell, Cross and Gits. With JOC being a bolter.
    Thats awesome!

excited to see what he can do on the international stage, i am a little trepadacious about the articles comment that they may have both Waugh and Pocock on the bench though? seems a little shortsighted and strange to me, it could be a masterstroke, but could be a huge screw-up if we suffer a injury or two to the locks

    Well done to Pocock
and i also agree with Tazzmania....who knew where Pocock and Brown would be if the Force had not come into existence.
