Australia's Wallabies ready for Cardiff rush hour in Test against Wales
By Wayne Smith
November 28, 2008
AUSTRALIA are about to discover why Welsh defensive coach Shaun Edwards, the former Britain rugby league half-back, has made as his guiding motto: "You have to be prepared to suffer".
Certainly there is pain and suffering heading the Australians' way at Millennium Stadium early on Sunday morning (EDT) and it's coming in the guise of the most aggressive defensive line the Wallabies have ever confronted.
"This will be the fastest line speed defence in world rugby and that challenge will be one that is great for us," Wallabies assistant coach Michael Foley said.
Edwards introduced the rush defence to rugby in 2002 when he joined current Welsh coach Warren Gatland at English premiership club Wasps. At the time, Wasps had no sting and seemingly were relegation-bound.
But under Gatland and Edwards, they employed an ultra-aggressive outside-in defensive pattern to bully opposing teams into error and surged to three successive premierships and the 2004 Heineken Cup.

Cardiff is an awesome-o rugby stadium....
Chuck Norris has the greatest Poker-Face of all time. He won the 1983 World Series of Poker, despite holding only a Joker, a Get out of Jail Free Monopoly card, a 2 of clubs, 7 of spades and a green #4 card from the game Uno.
