Elsom in doubt for Brumbies debut

Any NSW players looking forward to lining up former teammate Rocky Elsom on Thursday night may be denied the chance with the Wallabies skipper battling injury.
Elsom was on Monday named to make his Brumbies debut against his old team in their final Super 14 trial but a recurring hamstring niggle has made him a 50-50 prospect.
Brumbies coach Andy Friend had planned to give the blind-side flanker a mere 20 minutes at Canberra's Viking Park but is also wary of risking further injury.
"He's touch and go to be honest," Friend said.
"He hasn't strained it, it's just an ongoing issue that he's had for probably the last three years.
"It's linked to his back and it feels tight and there's the chance of aggravating it and we certainly don't want that."
A six-season stalwart at the Waratahs before he played with Leinster last year, Elsom should know by Tuesday whether he can line up against former back-row partners Phil Waugh and Wycliff Palu.
Mitchell Chapman is on stand-by for the 49-Test forward, who turns 27 next week.

Having both Matt Giteau and Rocky Elsom not match fit bodes well for us. You can see the Brumbies are under a bit of pressure as George Smith who was going to sit out of trial matches is fronting up against the Waratahs.
