Queensland Rugby has announced an important new sponsorship deal with Carlton and United Breweries that will see Carlton Mid served at Reds Super Rugby games.
Reds Chief Commercial Officer Daniel Herbert announced the sponsorship and pourage rights deal after considering offers from other potential partners including Lion Nathan.
“This is a significant deal for Queensland Rugby and we are pleased to partner with CUB in this extended Super Rugby competition year.”
The deal ends the Lion Nathan/XXX association with Queensland Rugby spanning more than two decades. “We want to take this opportunity to thank Lion Nathan/XXXX for their contribution over many years. They were long established supporters and we acknowledge their positive role.”
“The decision to accept the CUB offer was a commercial one. Carlton and United Breweries offered a deal that included opportunities for the Reds and Rugby State-wide.”
CUB Queensland General Manager Cameron Levick said Carlton Mid had previously been associated in Queensland with the Brisbane Lions and heavily involved in horse racing but this is the first time it has been involved with the Reds.
“Rugby is part of the fabric of Queensland and the agreement, a first for rugby at this level, allows exposure into all tiers from club level to the elite.

“Fellowship, a game for all shapes and sizes and a sense of fair play are the cornerstones of Rugby and it is a philosophy Carlton Mid is proud to be associated with.”
“Carlton places a strong value on rugby as a sport and supports the new aggregation model that Queensland Rugby is embracing for the future of the game. We are genuinely excited about the Reds and look forward to supplying our premium brands to rugby supporters everywhere.”
The agreement will see CUB introduced to Queensland Rugby clubs and other stakeholders throughout the State to ensure other organisations have an opportunity to embrace competitive opportunities.
Dear Lord, if you give us back Johnny Cash, we'll give you Justin Bieber.
Thats interesting. Lion Nathan are a new partner for the Force. I am pretty sure they had Tooheys new on board before and this year's "Feel the Force" lists Lion Nathan.

1,000,000 Queenslander's just roller over in their graves...
The only word that really stood out amongst all the rhetoric and spin was MID. More bad news for the punter.
They had to, following recent events in Qld XXXX is going to be too watered down to serve to paying customers.

He's not the Mesiah...............
Female friend of mine used to alternately smuggle a 3/4 full bladder or two bottles of vino into the Test matches. Used to hide them below a nanna looking tupperware box of biscuits or other "old" snacks...

Open a loaf of bread bag. Take out all of the middle slices and hollow them out. Stash the bottle of whatever inside the hollowed slices and put the ends back on. Reseal the bread. Set.
