Ive had the day off today looking after my little guy who is not well, have taken the opportunity to have a look at the miriad of articles springing up on the Severe Cyclone Yasi that is bearing down on North QLD.
I drew up a comparison image of Cyclone Monica vs Yasi
the significance is that Monica is considered by many to be the strongest Cyclone to Hit Australia since records began... you decide..
below is an Colour substitute loop from the NOAA which is quite spectacular

Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.
I was in Darwin for TC , by the time it got to Darwin it was like in Perth last Sunday.
Word is they are offering free one way flights to the promised land, spread your arms and land in Broome...

Dear Lord, if you give us back Johnny Cash, we'll give you Justin Bieber.
Now upgraded to highest level - Cat 5. BOM calling it "Severe TC Yasi" and using capital letters in parts of sentences for emphasis of danger.
Best of luck to those in that part of QLD.

Had the scary experience of a few in our years in the Pilbara. Nothing near the severity of this system. The wind strength is incredible but the truly terrifying thing is the size of the beast. They are saying that it will take 24 hours to pass. All our thoughts and prayers are with them.

I don't know, I just think that QLD is being a natural disaster hog ... ... ...
