Scrums how scrums end

I have a little issue with some ref calls tonight and the try by Higgenbottom should not have been allowed as i have just looked up on IRb rules about scrums and the following is copy and pasted from the rule book

20.10 ENDING THE SCRUM
(a) The ball comes out. When the ball comes out of the scrum in any direction except the tunnel, the scrum ends.


So as the replay showed it was not hooked and came out the tunnel in my eyes

I think Liam Gill's foot connected first and that this may be the reason why it was allowed. I'm not sure whether the "coming out the tunnel" rule only applies when the ball is not touched. May be a grey area.

sorry tic, it has to go behind the props... It cannot come out of the tunnel. The so-called assistant refs should have told doobie-wacker about it. as they can call that stuff since they stopped being touchies... right... wasn't that the point? so they can tell the ref when he misses something which gives away an illegitemate try?

Did it definately come out the same tunnel? I only saw it once on TV and can't recall (it was jibberish o'clock over here in the east when I was watching).

I thought it was a bad call but that's rugby. The referees are always shite so you have to factor that into your match plan. You have to prepare mentally for some shockers like getting pinged for collapsing when you have an attacking scrum on your feed etc etc etc etc. The team that wins deals with it better.

Both teams had to put up with terrible decisions

It aint easy being human and the only way to stop bad decisions is to take the human element out of the refereeing.........which you can't.

A more tailored selection process for referees should be introduced to the hiring process........like not employing weedy little pedantic megalomaniacs with zero social skills that get off on bossing big boys around in their only licensed life situation.

Since only socially deficient dweebs want to be referees, unfortunately the system is forced to employ anyone with a pulse who applies.

It needs to be looked at

The Force have some psychological issues to deal with. The talent is there for everybody to see. They compete with the best. I saw kieren Longbottom come over to talk to his mum whilst my kids were hanging around to run on the field. The bloke was very upset about losing the game.

At the end of the day, it wasn't the referee who lost that line-out throw in the 77th minute.

Losing Sharpie hurt us. The lineout was a lottery after he left.
