O’Connor out for one week
By RugbyWA Media
James O’Connor
Emirates Western Force back James O'Connor will miss the club’s final match of the season against the Rebels in Melbourne on Friday night after being suspended at a SANZAR hearing on Sunday morning.
O'Connor was found guilty of dangerous play after being cited under Foul Play Law 10.4 (j) for the dangerous lifting and dropping of Reds captain James Horwill.
The incident took place in the opening half of the club’s Super Rugby match at nib Stadium on Saturday evening and O’Connor was cited by video following the game.
After a hearing, SANZAR Judicial Officer, Michael Cashman found the offence proved and categorised it at the low end of seriousness. Taking account of mitigating factors and noting the absence of any aggravating features, he reduced the sanction of three weeks to a one week suspension.
This is the first time O’Connor has appeared before a SANZAR tribunal in his 38 match Super Rugby career.
The Emirates Western Force will not appeal the sanction.
Well, that just caps off a marvellous weekend, not.
Will horwill get suspended for the swinging forearm at pococks jaw??
The judiciary has already set a precedence with the Vaeia hit on Digby.
so sharpe and joc both out next week, i presume sharpie will have scans done today or monday....
Un bloody believable! This game is for men not boys, Christ if JOC lifts up and dumps Horwell who must weigh nearly double he should get a bloody medal.
Will Copper get banned for the shot to JOC's head?
May the FORCE be with you!
Nathan Sharpe will undergo scans later this afternoon on his right ankle after sustaining an injury in the club’s match against the Reds in Perth last night.
Sharpe was substituted in the 24th minute and after treatment from club medical staff yesterday and this morning will have further tests to determine the severity of the injury.
Results will not be available until Monday.
Dear Lord, if you give us back Johnny Cash, we'll give you Justin Bieber.
Just saw the footage of the incident - its fair enough to cop a week ban.

JOC should save that stuff for soccer if he decides to switch codes.
I'm sorry but its a bit hard to take that suspension serious.
A back getting suspended for a tackle on a big unit like Horwell.
It's like one of those little mexican dogs humping the leg of a rotweiller.
hang on you didnt see it but you can claim that it didnt happen?????? maybe im reading it wrong..
Replays clearly show JOC kick the ball and then Cooper Jumps into JOC with his elbow in his face... it was reckless and cynical. yes JOC probably played it up a little but ive seen many players play it up when high tackled or dumped like JOC did to Horwill... it the intent that the issue not necessarily the result of the action....
I only saw the footage on the news, think it was about 27min mark

JOC will be fresh for the wallabies.
Perhaps he can spend the week making up his mind?
Controversy corner
or maybe he needed an appointment at the sponser lounge and told SANZAR to give him a week off lol
