    Nerve Conductivity Study and MRIs

    Hi Kids!

I was wondering if anyone has ever had a nerve conductivity study done ... I have to have one because I'm awesome ... (and have persistant pins and needles in my legs/feet and left arm), except the specialist didn't really explain it ... he just said they stick you with needles and zap you with an electric shock ... I was just wondering how painful/uncomfortable it would be ...

I also have to have four MRIs are they scary??? I know I jumped out of a plane and all ... but that was nothing! :p

MRI's are not scary just long and boring.
The nerve thingy is a bit of fun where they stick needle into you link them all with wires and zap you with electricityoodles of fun It does not hurt (not that much anyway) and they look at how the nerves react on a chart.

MRI's can be fun. Just think of it as your own personal aircraft sleeping module (until the test is over).

    Hi Lonzy,

NB: I have only spent time in the full body MRI machines, so I don't know what it's like in a smaller size machine.

I won't sugar coat it, MRIs are loud and noisy and a pain in the ass to keep still for the allotted time. Your reaction, if going head first into the tube, will depend on the type of the MRI machine eg full body and your view of confined spaces. Oh and the music sucks in them because of all the interference in the headphones.

But besides that, hey just enjoy the noise, keep your self distracted by having a look at how one works and when your in it try to listen to the coils and picture them working. http://www.ovaltech.ca/images/Mri-machine.jpg

Remember when in the MRI, there is always some one ready to talk to you if you need to.

    Good luck.

I've had 4 full body MRI's and usually just try to nod off. Problem is the operators keep talking to you.

Full body Nuclear Bone Scans are the pits. Had 2 of those.

Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

You'll be fine with the MRI Lonzy. They do test your nerve a bit though as they're noisy and can make you feel claustrophobic. You can communicate with the controller though which makes you feel at ease. Make sure they tell you how long each cycle goes for before they start it up so you've got a rough idea on timing.

Lonz, some Pizza Hut fridge magnets secreted in your palm are always good to conduct zero gravity experiments.

Paper clips shaped like hearts securely sewn into your clothing are also good to confuse radiographers.

    Good luck!!

True ... but then again it depends what they find! :s

I'm also on the bone marrow donor list ... so it could be one day! Hopefully not though!

    Thanks guys!

I should be right, I'm probably more worried about what they will find :s

But they are doing heaps of tests so if there is anything ... they should be able to find it!

Oh, and damn those mice and cane toads!!! why I aughta!!! I knew it would come back to bite me! :p

Had an MRI after my stroke - told to lay as still as possible but as predictable as the sunrise you develop an itch about 5 mins after the damn thing starts
