In light of Pocock getting the nod for Wallabies skipper. Wouldn't it be a good idea if Sharpey stood aside for what could be possibly his last year, & let DP take the reins for 2012?
While in principle that sounds good, I think Sharpey has done more than enough to be our leader for the 2012 year. He has been an inspiration and shining light from day one, he desreves the armband for the year ahead.
I am sure Dave would have no issues with that and being the principled man he appears to be would be happy that it was the right thing.
Sharpey did indicate last year he would be happy to stand aside for JOC to keep him there, but Poey would not need that sort of thing, he would prefer to learn from a master craftsman. Not prentd he was already one like JOC

I dare say Sharpie is still the best man for the job at the Force. Sharpie captained the Wallabies in '04 - but this didn't lead to Flatley being displaced as Reds captain in '05
Dear Lord, if you give us back Johnny Cash, we'll give you Justin Bieber.
Sharpe should have been the Wallabies Captain for the past 4 years!
“Everyone knows whether it’s rugby, politics or whatever, front-rowers should rule the world, so to have a hooker at the helm makes sense,” Nathan Charles Western Force & Wallabies Hooker.
If indeed captains had "armbands"
2012 - Captain Sharpe, Vice Pocock
2013 - Captain Pocock, Vice Hodgson

Sharpie lead the wallabies at (part of) the world cup.
Sharpie is the force captain for as long as he plays. Pocock will definitely take the reins when sharpie retires.
coz Stone Cold says so
I can see merit in both outcomes, the transition would be awesome if Sharpie was fully on board with it as a method of developing bam as a leader (which he would be completely cool with IMHO) but to have another year with Sharpie as the inspirational heart and soul, getting the victories he richly deserves now that the bacline's full of workers, not princesses would also be awesome

Sharpie needs a try this season!!!
Or a drop goal
Why does Sharpie have to finish up at the end of the 2012 Season????
As far as I am concerned - if he is still having fun and Sharpie is physically up for it, he is welcome to be part of the Western Force for as long as he wants.

"Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place and I don’t care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard ya hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done! Now if you know what you’re worth then go out and get what you’re worth. But ya gotta be willing to take the hits, and not pointing fingers saying you ain’t where you wanna be because of him, or her, or anybody! Cowards do that and that ain’t you! You’re better than that!" - Rocky Balboa
Hey EX I am not completely sure how it will work with the new system the ARU are developing as were player have to sign ARU contracts and be available for Wallaby selection... But I do know Australia has lost a lot of talent to overseas due to this ruling Eg : Smith Greagan etc The rulling should be that a player can play for a Super club and not have to be available for Wallaby Selection at the last few yrs of their playing careers ( not saying Sharpie is not capable but he should have a choice ) Would be great to see sharpie and other top players here for many yrs to come ( Semi retirement type situ )) with time to get a life for after rugby ( employment oppurtunities )
Loyal players should be given the right to play for the team they want with no obligations to Wallaby compulsry availablity
Pocock for Captain, Sharpie for Prime Minister!
I don't think David would want to take it reins from Sharpe in his last year at the club, he deserves to be cheered the hell off the pitch by the Sea of Blue his last game for the club, and it should be as our Captain. Having said that, the big man should play on for another few seasons til his son's old enough to join.
A kick in this game is like a rather nasty alcoholic shooter, only as good as it's chaser...
