    Fava outa favour??

What do we think about our boy being dropped from the test this weekend?
I feel he played a great game and didn`t deserve to be dumped, even though Wycliff will probably play well also, and we need to blood more players. But, at the expense of someone who played so well......comments please...

yeah, it does seem a bit harsh.. though at least there's an extra Tah in the team now

I guess it's possible Connolly is going for a more physical approach against the Boks, whereas playing the kiwi's could be said to target more on skill...

Could it be that Knuckles is thinking along the Kiwi lines of 1st and 2nd choice Wallaby teams depending opposition. The best against the best?

The more experince we get ALL newish/fringe players before RWC 2007 the better. The experienced Gregans and Larkhams should be on Spring Tour even if only playing mid week trails and leaving the tests to give these newish/fringe fellas a crack.

He is still experimenting and trying to find the best world cup back row combination.

I think it is a little of both from above.
Partly horses for courses and also trying Cliffy from a start rather than the bench.
I watched the second half of the Test today and there was very little that I could criticise Fava for that was purely his fault and not shared blame such as at the back of a folding scrum etc.
I am interested to see how long David Lyons stays on the outer as I believe he is still our best true #8 when he is fully fit.
You blue ballers may know, but I think he may be recovering from an operation at the moment?

Im a Fava man, but a fit and angry Lyons on song is the man.I think his time may pass him by while injured though.Palu has a bit of mongruel in him and a big unit to boot.Tif is right, horses for courses i reckon.

Lyons is actually suprisingly only 26 years old.
    Lyons: 15/06/80
    Palu: 27/02/82
    Elsom: 14/02/83
    Fava: 19/01/76.

Just read on the NSWRU site that Lyons is playing his first match for Uni this weekend returning from a "back complaint".

Both Lyons and Palu suffer from the lazies. Hopefully Palu uses his chance and hopefully Lyons learnt a lesson from being dropped.

That's for sure, he's done his jailtime, and now he's going to take his mongrel out on the saffers!

I still think *dons flame suit* that Lyons has the best skillset for number 8 in this country. His 2005 season for the Tahs was unmatched by anyone. If only he can recapture that form.

I have to agree with you, Lyons on his day is a phenomonal ball running machine. Just a shame his day was in 2005...

From the look of him Fava doesnt strike me as a number 8, could he play as a flanker? has he before?

But he has, and does play no 8, and very well.....
The only thing i feel that is against him is his age, and that he really won`t have much of a shelf life in comparison to wycliff, or even Lyons for that matter...he is over 30 now, i think, and as he actually does get through a high work rate, he will feel it more as he gets older
