Talking TWF to adopt a Northern Hemisphere Club?

What do people think of us adopting a Northern Hemisphere club to follow and support during the off season? Perhaps even strike up a "brother fan club" gig with their support base?

If you think it has merit, please suggest which clubs and then we'll put it to a poll and try and get in contact with the contenders too.

Is there a new kid on the block in any of those leagues like our FORCE?

Coach you know I would obviously have a bias for Ulster in the Magners League (messageboard very welcoming) or Bath in the Guinness Premiership (messageboard not so tolerant of non-English), and can't see myself wanting to be associated with any rival club in either of those leagues...I guess other NH Force fans (are there many?) would feel the same about their own favourites.

Happy have you just not noticed the amount of non-rugby topics filling the board during the S14 off-season?

I am willing to put my hand up and say that I am ignorant to the world of Northern Hemisphere Rugby, but I will say this

In my humble opinion our good mate Flat-top has never steered us wrong, so I will back his idea for Ulster in the Mangers League, this should keep TLH happy as well, I have heard a whisper that he likes Mangers, not sure if this is true or not.

Stanners came from London Irish, Dave Fitter has just gone there
His Bro plays for Glascow Warriors (I think)

It doesn't have to be UK based either...
Welborne came home from Brieve, Brock James has just gone there (and is there leading try scorer I think!!)

We won;t become a supporters site for any adopted club, just give us something to follow as a group

To be fair there is sometimes a little bit of Pom bating on here but trust me it is nothing to the sledging you will experience on GP messageboards (IMHO of course).

Irish fans are widely accepted (along with the Scots) as the most welcoming of other nationalities, sure doesn't everyone have Ireland as their second team If this is to be a success I would suggest either an Irish (not necessarily Ulster) or French team (Beaver struggles with English I think the spellchecker would overheat if he had to post in French ).

Ulster have two messageboards, you don't need to register to browse so take a look and see if the type of debate appeals.

Between us neither looks as professionally run as TWF but then they don't have Coach

Yeah both my cousins living in England are members of the Saints... I took a look at the ground when I was over, pretty good... wish the Force had something like that...

Good point, Happy... and all the NH rugby comps don't finish till May - so it will crossover with pretty much out entire season....

Mostoy it will give *me* more stuff to post about - I hate it when this place goes all quiet like...

I might make an executive decision and just say Ulster (nothing to do with the fact that they are top of the ladder :p )

    I'll add a poll

That's a top idea Coach, I'll come over here and enjoy reading about Ulster and learning something about the Magners comp too

Good news for you Coach, they've got an RSS Feed here !

The Heineken Cup kicks off on Saturday with Ulster taking on Toulouse, should be a cracker. From what I understand the Heineken Cup is a relegation based tournament taking in the top teams from Europe based on where they finished in their own leagues plus last years winner.

I've gone for the more traditional summer approach over at GTT of jumping on the cricket... go the BaggyGreens

Is it Ulster that Justin Harrison plays for? Or Munster? Or Leinster... Oh bother...

It is Ulster though isn't it?
