Sounds all well and good until you see the list of exempt telemarketers:

Exempt organisations include:

* charities or charitable institutions
* educational institutions
* religious organisations
* government bodies
* registered political parties
* independent members of parliament
* political candidates.

Begs the question, why bother?

And the rest of the pests are ringing from overseas anyway, so the Government can't do anything about it , even if it had the stomach to do so, which it doesn't.

I love the overseas telemarketing people -
I answer the phone here the long pause and they say hello
and I say hi,
they say can we just.....
and I interrupt them and ask them to hold for a moment.

I walk away from the phone and go back to it in 20 minutes, quietly pick up the phone and see if they are still there.

I hardly hear from them any more.

My mother does that, and then she forgets to put the phone back on the hook. Know how disconcerting that can be when your oldies are in their 80's?

i heard yesterday the service crashed because that many people tried to get on it at once

when they call me i pretend im 18 untill they realise and ask for my parents. then i pretend my house is getting broken into and theres gunshots and chaos happening then they soon hang up.


tip: a good way to get them to hang up is to press all of the buttons on your phone at once it works most times.

We simply don't answer the phone if we don't recognize who's calling.
